Once you've decided which halls you like best, all that's left is to tell us which preferred properties you'd like to apply for. You can do this through our accommodation portal.
You can still apply for accommodation even if you said you wanted to live at home on your UCAS and Student Finance application.
However, you should let Student Finance know as this may affect your maintenance loan entitlement.
1. Register on our portal
You'll need your 8-digit student ID number to register. You can find your student ID in the emails we send to you.
If you're getting an error message when applying, check that you are entering the correct 8-digit student ID number (e.g. 3XXXXXXX).
If you are still unsuccessful in your registration, please contact accommodation services. Make sure you use your personal email and not a school or college email account, as you’ll likely lose access to it.
Clearing students
If you're coming through clearing, you will be provided with a Clearing number (‘CLR’ followed by a 9 digit number) until you are given your 8-digit student ID number. The 8 digit student ID number will be sent to you once your place on the course is fully accepted and confirmed via UCAS Hub.
If you don't have a student ID yet, you can register with the CLR number given to you during clearing. You will need to replace the ‘CLR’ with ‘X’.
If you receive your student ID this can be used instead of your clearing ID if you've not yet registered. You may have to wait up to 24 hours to register, once you receive your student ID number.
2. Activate your account and log in
You'll receive an email from us with a validation code, which you can use to log in.
You only need to register once.
3. Tell us where you'd like to live
In order of preference, select four properties you'd like to live in. Make sure you apply as soon as you can and that you're happy with all your options.
We can't always accommodate people's first choice and while we can guarantee you a place, some halls fill up quickly.
4. Make us aware of your preferences or requirements
We encourage applicants to make use of the 'notes' section on the application form to tell us any specific requirements or requests that we should consider when allocating your accommodation. For example, if you would prefer a larger room or en-suite bathroom.
5. Confirm your options and submit your application
Review your application and make sure you're happy with all your options.
Once you've submitted it, you won't be able to make any changes to your application yourself.
If you want to change anything, you'll need to contact the Accommodation Services team.
