News
Ï㽶ÊÓƵ is set to deliver world class research and innovation capability to drive next generation physical vapour deposition (PVD) processing following major investment in full digitisation of equipment and technology.
Power generation
We specialise in solving technical, environmental and economic issues associated with power generation from renewable and non-renewable energy sources
Repair and rehabilitation solutions
Our research in this area is designed to enable us to condition monitor, inspect and survey infrastructure, e.g. bridges, buildings, heritage structures, underground systems, water retaining structures, and give expert advice on their repair and maintenance.
Concrete testing services
The Centre for Infrastructure Management has a wide range of capabilities for testing concrete. A brief of each test we perform is given below.
Structural testing
This PhD aims to develop work by means of the relatively new Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) that permits a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of fracture and crack propagation in advanced composite structures
Other testing services within CIM
The Centre for Infrastructure Management can test a wide range of materials and products. A brief of each test we perform is given below.
Product development
The Centre for Infrastructure Management has an extensive expertise in assisting organisations to develop innovative products to remain competitive, including concept generation, novel pipe couplings, accelerated concrete curing technology and corrosion prevention systems.
Building insulation testing
At the Centre for Infrastructure Management, we are able to evaluate and test the comparative thermal performance of reflective and multi-foil insulations.
Conservation of heritage structures
At the Centre for Infrastructure Management, we have extensive expertise in the characterisation of heritage materials by means of analytical laboratory techniques and in the development and evaluation of mortars and processes for the conservation and repair of heritage structures.
