Our open days are busy and lively events. See our below information on accessibility while at the event, and you can also view our quieter open day programme, which helps you avoid particularly busy times and spaces for a quieter experience.
If you have contacted us about reasonable adjustments for the day, we will contact you separately.

Quiet Rooms
There are designated quiet rooms for the event, you can use them whenever you want to. A member of staff will be able to take you there or direct you to them on the day of the event.
Arriving and leaving
You do not need to arrive exactly for the start time of the event, but we recommend giving yourself at least 15 minutes between arriving and the start of your first talk; you may need to give yourself additional time to travel to your next talk if it is at a different area of campus.
You can come and go from the talk sessions - arrive late, leave early, and move around during the sessions. Feel free to wear headphones and/or tinted glasses. You can leave at any time throughout the event.
Check-in
To avoid the crowds when checking in, you can come back at a different time before the end of the event.
At the undergraduate open day on 5 July 2025, Owen Level 5 and Heart of the Campus registration points won't be busy from 1.30pm.
At the postgraduate open day, Owen Level 5 and Head Post Office registration points will be quieter from around 6pm whilst the Level 2 Atrium registration point will be the busiest due to being located near the course stands. At check-in we will also give you a voucher to receive a free tea or coffee.
Talks
If you want to avoid busy talks then alternatively you can visit our website for further information on studying at Hallam.

Welcome talk |
The talk at 9.45–10.15am will be the busiest talk of the day at City Campus and takes place in a large lecture theatre. |
The talk at 10–10.30am will be the busiest talk of the day at Collegiate Campus and takes place in a large lecture theatre. |
Campus tours |
Campus tours are led by student ambassadors & normally go in groups of up to 15 people. If you would prefer to go in a smaller group please let the member of staff on the stand know. |

City tours |
These are generally quiet, however speak to the member of staff on the stand if you would like to go in a smaller group. |

Accommodation tours |
You can walk/wheel or alternatively get one of our free shuttle buses to our accommodation sites. Speak to a member of our open day staff for more information on how to do this. If you would like to see an accessible room please let us know in advance of the event. |

Course talks |
The morning course talks will generally be the busier of the two. Some courses only have a talk in the morning so instead you can visit the course stand in the afternoon to speak to an academic or student on the course. |

The General welcome talks & Get Into Teaching welcome talks at 4:15–4:45pm will be the busiest talks of the event and take place in large lecture theatres. |
Campus tours |
Campus tours are led by student ambassadors & normally go in groups of up to 15 people. If you would prefer to go in a smaller group please let the member of staff on the stand know. |
Course talks |
Some courses only have one talk during the event so instead you can visit the course stand to speak to an academic or student on the course. |
Blue badge parking
If you have a blue badge and need information about parking please get in touch with us through our ask a question webform.
British Sign Language Interpreter or Support Worker
We can provide a British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter to accompany you throughout the event.
In some specific circumstances we can provide a Support Worker to accompany you throughout the event.
If this is something you require please get in touch with us via our web form. We are unable to guarantee this service, but if you contact us no later than two weeks before the event we can normally facilitate this. If it is less than two weeks till the event, please do still get in touch with us and we will do our best to support you.
Breastfeeding/baby facilities
City Campus – There are baby changing and breastfeeding facilities available on level 6 in Owen Building- next to the toilets outside Hallam View.
Collegiate Campus – There is a baby changing room in the back corner of the Heart of the Campus (HOTC) to the left of the Granary Cafe. There are also microwave and hot water facilities round the corner to the left of HC.0.06 Lecture Theatre.
If you need any help finding these facilities please ask a member of staff at the event.
Taxis
We can provide a taxi for you to get between Campuses or to Accommodation sites if you are not able to use the shuttle buses.
Prayer rooms
For any guests who would like to use a space to pray at the event.
City Campus: Owen Level 2
Collegiate Campus- Oaklands, room 212, on level 2 and Muslim Prayer Rooms in the Robert Winston building on level 5 and 6 – room F600 (female) and F615 (male).
If you need help finding or accessing these rooms, please speak to a member of staff.
