The Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice's contribution to the Home Officer call for evidence on its Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy

Academics and Ï㽶ÊÓƵers from the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice submitted a number of recommendations in response to the UK Government Home Office’s call for evidence on its Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy.

The submission proposed recommendations to reduce the occurrence of VAWG and how to improve institutional responses by applying an equality and rights based approach. The submission is divided into 4 sections focussing on:

• Reducing in the incidence and severity of violence against women and girls through preventative and supportive measures;

• Improving outcomes for victims/survivors through better handling of crimes in the criminal justice system;

• Identifying new and emerging forms of violence against women and girls so that they can be adequately tackled; and

• Conclusions and Recommendations

The Helena Kennedy Centre is home to the work of a number of academics and postgraduate researcher students addressing VAWG. The submission was made on the 18th February 2021. Read the submission. (PDF, 392.6KB)
