 Recently finished geometric abstraction. The pictures below show the progression of this painting through several stages.  unpainted canvas with central opening  1st stage  2nd stage  3rd stage, after considerable head scratching and sketching.  4th stage, after adding one additional color.  Finished painting.  detail, showing hand-painted lines and remnants of the original painting still visible.

 Reinhardt created this humorous cartoon back in the 40's. It is the catalyst for a recent exhibition of British abstraction. Check out the article by David Ryan at Abstract Critical.
