Email BMRCThe journal Analyst published an article by Dr Simona Francese and Dr Melanie Bailey, University of Surrey, about new, non-invasive tests that can detect cocaine use through a simple fingerprint.
For the first time, this new fingerprint method can determine whether cocaine has been ingested, rather than just touched. In collaboration with King’s College, the Netherlands Forensic Institute and the National Physics Institute, the team probed a range of cutting edge techniques amongst which MALDI Ion mobility mass spectrometry carried out at the Centre for Mass Spectrometry Imaging, BMRC. The article received much attention from the media and was featured on the Analyst cover.
